What happens on your Course? There is no other student with me -- just you. You will speak only English and (except in an emergency) do not make contact with anyone speaking your home language -- so you begin to think in English (and you will !) Day 1: You talk with me about your life and I decide your level of understanding English and how best I can organise your time here. I tries to make sure you tell him anything you don't understand. I ask you to say, "Again please" (as many times as you like). It is important to say "More slowly please," if I am talking too fast for you. Day 2: When you come to breakfast, I will give you a 'Work sheet' with the important words and things you learned yesterday. (I will write them down as we are together each day). We will then work on the farm until lunch time. After lunch you have private time. At 4pm we have afternoon tea and do things together until Dinner. At 9pm we all go to bed. You will have had 10 hours personal tuition every day. Days 3 & 4 & 6 and 7: same as Day 2. Days 5 and 8: We will go off the farm to have some fun that you have chosen... an Island visit maybe. ADDITIONAL: Each student has different needs and different interests. We will do things that you want to do. Most students will start to gather their own words and understanding for the future and I will help you do this by the time you leave. Everyone does what they are interested in on the farm and when we go off the farm. You may decide to stay longer and we will arrange this to suit you.. At the end of the Course you will have a Certificate which states your activities and achievements. One Japanese student had a long stay here and used his Certificate to get specialised employment relate to what he had learned here. |
