Kazuko teaches Home Economics and has come to learn
"Traditional Woman's Survival Skills on the Kiwi Backcountry Farm"

Kazuko is surprised at the size of the freezer in the store room.  On a farm, we cannot "pop out to the shops" when we need something.  The "farmer's wife" has to plan everything carefully for a month at a time, at least.   Cooking is done in part on this old wood stove, the first made in New Zealand, in 1873.  All our hot water for showers is heated by firewood from the farm.   Kazuko's caring husband has just phoned to check that she arrived safely at "Our Farm-Park".  She is sending him an e-mail so he can see photos of her on this page.

She is learning how to make butter from the milk... . .. of our lovely old Jersey Cow called Tripe. One of many meals Kazuko watched Nicholas make, carefully recording the recipe as Nicholas created it.   While Kazuko was here there was a big storm. Next day we went to see the damage...At the bottom of "Our Farm-Park" the streams are very full.
